This car is absolutely my type. However, our silver Mégane already, to my surprise, managed to collect many disapproving reviews from our readers. Yes, this is a diesel, a guard of the environment. so what? Still, the winner of the Audi R10 Race race, and the winner of the same Peugeot 908 races, and a number of racing cars are used by diesel engines. These motors arrived very helpful: in the conditions of economic crisis and global warming, their economy and environmental friendliness play into the hands of those who use them.
We adore modern gasoline engines with turbocharges, they easily make praise. The only thing that disappoints in them is the nonlinearity of the thrust and its loss in the latest gear. For example? Say, Golf GTI, Mini Cooper S, Mégane R26 … And now, for which we love diesel engines — they are deprived of these shortcomings, they always have enough traction. And the Mégane DCI 175 is a car with such a diesel engine that has a craving at the supercar level, with the only difference being that it works in a shorter speed range.
Due to its pace and powerful traction, as well as the debugged work of the six -speed “mechanics”, our silver Renault can please both in the tight jungle of cities and on the spacious highway. His dynamics works in his hands. Always. The chassis is not bad. We are almost sure that Renault knows that their hot hatchbacks are many times superior to those that competitors from their native France (in particular, Peugeot), who have long lost their gloss. DCI intends to strengthen this position, in which it is accompanied by serious power and excellent clutch, as well as an excellent suspension and, most importantly, an extreme sensitive control that brings true pleasure. That is why — Mégane DCI 175, we attribute to the engineeringly thought -out and truly driver. But this power capsule became quite dangerous during the rain. I understood this on the day when I tried to show on the track the time of a more powerful Mitsubishi Evo X, while consuming half the fuel. The hope for the victorious outcome was given by the car itself — Renault was actually much more sensitive and accurate than Mitsubishi. During the weekends held on the track, the front tires managed to worry decently, so we desperately needed new. Since Continental is no longer released by the SportContact 2 model, we had to change into newer tires, SportContact 3.
The new “shoes” on our Renault was trying on my old friends from the Discount Tires of Hemel tire fitting center. Few of the tires with such trepidation refers to their work, everything checks several times. And at the same time do their work for a quite acceptable price. When changing tires, we found on one of the protection of the arches traces of the wheel touch. The consequences of the pardon? Or maybe too big a suspension move? So far it doesn’t matter — there are no vibrations and sounds from deformed protection of the arch, and if they appear, then it will have to be replaced. When new tires were finally installed on the car, I anticipated an even more confident control, an even more accurate move, reinforced return of the hard front spacer.
New tires have “adapted” to the new place — during our trip to Le Many (there and back) for the sake of GT40, Mégane proved himself an extremely positive car. But he did not get the easiest role-to become a mobile television program. Instantly all the windows of the car turned into loopholes of lenses through which we made a shooting of the legendary Ford. The main lens was the windshield through which most of the pictures were taken.
The new generation of Mégane is coming, so in a month or two our hatchback will have time to become obsolete. Of course, the RenaultSport unit will also work on the new model. We really hope that there will be samples with diesel engines in the sports modeling range. This is an inimitable combination, which, for some reason, is not used by other manufacturers. I wonder why?
