The already difficult life of teams and pilots in anticipation of this season complicated the new regulations, according to which it was forbidden to make changes to the construction of the engine. That is, the commands should use the homologous engine of the end of the year. This decision somewhat leveled the possibilities of rivals and strengthened competition, but at the same time prompted designers for inventive steps. The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team has found a way out of the situation thanks to its technical partner — the manufacturer of motor oils of Exxonmobil. During the Grand Prix of Great Britain, it was announced that the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 car will be supplied with new motor oil, specially selected for this eight-cylinder V-shaped engine. Exxonmobil experts and without any regulations have long observed the friction processes in the motor and prepared new developments to increase engine performance. However, changes in the rules have entailed changes in the course of research. I had to take a closer look at the effect of oil at the efficiency of the “eight” from a different angle. From there it became noticeable that the ratio of components in the composition of the lubricants must be changed, as well as introduce a new synthetic ingredient that reduces friction. The result, if the expectation did not surpass, then accurately confirmed them — the engine power increased, respectively, the time of passing the circles of the track decreased. Moreover — scientists not only came out the necessary level of motor performance, but also increased its reliability. Add to these surveys the choice of fuel to optimize the combustion process, and you will see that Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has investigated all the faces that allow the car to move within the rules. Of course, all this improves the indicators for a share of seconds, but this is enough in Formula 1. No wonder the team is now heading the three leaders of the general standings of the Cup of the Cup of Designers.
