The main qualities that the kitchen flooring should have is strength, wear resistance, moisture resistance, pleasant appearance. All the above qualities can be attributed to two types of flooring: linoleum and ceramic tiles.
Linoleum
This material is not afraid of any cleaning and disinfection. It is divided into several types depending on its basis: with a heat -insulating substrate, without a base or with a fabric base.
A little earlier linoleum was produced only from natural materials. It included ingredients such as wood resin, jute tissue, cork flour, linseed oil and color pigment. Such linoleum calmly tolerates the effects of solvents and is a rather strong material.
Polyvinyl chloride linoleum in its qualities is in no way inferior to its natural counterpart, but in terms of value it is more democratic. The quality and life of such a flooring depends on the type of base and its thickness. The advantages of linoleum include efficiency, ease of installation and care, moisture repellent properties. But the disadvantages, unfortunately, include traces from the legs of heavy and not very furniture, poor resistance to sharp objects and intolerance to high temperatures. But in general, linoleum is a fairly good floor covering for the kitchen.
Ceramic tiles
All ceramic tiles are divided into several types, depending on the type of manufacture. The most ancient way is Bikottur — pressed double firing clay, the distinguishing properties of which are low strength and high level of porosity of tiles. It is used only for the interior decoration of the walls, but it cannot be used as a floor covering.
A more modern way is monocottra- pressed and glazed tiles, as the name already understood, it is burned only once. Has high strength and matte surface. Used as a floor covering especially in rooms with high humidity due to its non -slip surface.
Another variety of tiles is monoporosis. Such tiles are pressed under the influence of high temperature, after which it is burned and ename. The method of manufacturing such tiles is largely similar to the creation of monocottra tiles with some exceptions.
