In the design of any room, the ceiling plays an important role. No matter how beautiful the furniture, the decoration of walls and floor, if the ceiling is formed tastelessly, as if by a hunch, the general view of the room worsens significantly.
Every year more and more people install stretch ceilings. And this is not surprising: their diversity is impressive, and the prices thanks to great competition are rapidly falling. Thus, choosing the optimal ratio of low price and the optimal quality of suspended ceilings is quite possible.
They are performed from two types of materials: it is either a polyvinyl chloride film or polyester fabric. The stretch ceiling is installed on special fasteners — baguettes. Baguettes are attached around the perimeter of the room, and the material is pulled on them.
What are the types of suspended ceilings?
Matte ceilings are a classic look. Outwardly, it is not much different from the usual canvas, which can be painted in different colors. But most often they have dim shades and are used in rooms with a classic, strict design.
Glossy stretch ceilings. Used in small rooms, since their reflective ability visually increases the space. In addition, the glossy surface positively solves the issue with the small height of the room. Due to the fact that the room is “reflected” on the ceiling, its height visually increases.
Satin ceilings. The main material is PVC film. In appearance and in the area of application, they are more similar to matte, but compared to them have significant advantages. If matte do not reflect light, then satin, on the contrary, begin to «play» when light. Therefore, for such stretch ceilings, lighting is selected with special scrupulousness. An interesting moment in them is that their shade depends on the viewing angle.
Fabric ceilings. As can be seen from the name, they are made of fabric. They look very beautiful in large rooms. Quite often used in rooms where the walls have beautiful patterns. The drawing on the canvases is most often selected for the print on the walls. Their only drawback is that they do not hold moisture. In this regard, they are not recommended to be installed in those rooms where there is a risk of flooding. When you get wet, the ceiling of PVC film is easily dismantled, water is drained, and the ceiling is put in place. In contrast, when the fabric is getting wet, they can only be thrown away: after the water dries, heifers and spots form on them.
