A few years later, the Citroen concern begins the sale of several new models of the premium class, namely DS4 and DS5. Like Citroen DS3, new models should appear for journalists already in September at an international exhibition in Franfurd.
As the manufacturers themselves say, the new DS4 and DS5 models will be built on the basis of C4 and C5 models, respectively. According to the Citroen DS4 itself, it will be a continuation of the concept car from 2005 called C-Sportlounge Concept, DS5 will also become a clear competitor in the market with the BMW X6, only for less money.
Citroen himself or in Russian Citroe? n (stress on the last syllable) is one of the largest French car manufacturers. The company itself was created back in 1919 and in those days was the only company in the world that put the production of cars on the conveyor and, accordingly, serial production outside the United States.
After half a century, the company became part of the PSA Peugeot Citroen concern, the main office of which is located on Fructidor in the capital of France. It was Citroen, in the period from 1934 to 1956, the world’s first in the world surprised consumers not by a simple template design, as was customary, but the newly innovative front drive traction avant. Later, the company began the production of such models as h Van, 2CV, DS and CX. The last model, by the way, was produced until 1991 inclusive.
It is interesting to know that the founder of the company Andre Citroen himself could never engage in car construction if he continued the family business. After studying, the young man decided to continue his studies by the student in the workshop for the manufacture of parts for steam locomotives, even then Andre showed himself as a real talent in the field of mechanical engineering. Already in 1908, he became the technical director of the MORS plant and a couple of years later the plant received a new impetus due to the modernization of production. Sales have increased and at the same time the well -being of the company has increased significantly.
During the Second World War, the plant was forced to re -profiled by the construction of specialized military equipment for the front and only after 1945 Andre Sitroen decided to build cars. Citroen is now one of the largest companies in Europe, releasing a large number of models that are very popular not only in France, but throughout the world.
