Unfortunately, the decline in production and consumption forced the leadership to accept the tactics of survival than to expand production. That is why the company’s plans begin to be implemented only now.
Representatives of the company «JI EM-Autsovaz» confirmed information about the company’s plans to start the production of the new Lada 4 × 4 SUV 4 × 4 SUV. Active work is currently underway to design all the details of the new model. Estimated time for the release of the first LADA 4 × 4 cars — mid 2014.
The management plans to simultaneously launch several new products on the market at once: the new Lada 4 × 4 and the updated version of the Chevrolet Niva. By the way, the last model is still in great demand in Russia as a budget SUV, convenient for both the city and having high cross -country ability on rural roads. Models will differ from each other as an external appearance (despite the clear similarity) and technical characteristics. At first, the company’s capacity is preparing for the production of about 60,000 models, but soon it is planned to increase the capacity from the current 94,000 to 120,000 per year.
Production on one site at once 2 similar models will make it possible to significantly reduce production costs, and General Motors assist the Volzhans in updating the popular all-wheel drive car.
The beginning of the production of the new Chevrolet Niva model and the new LADA 4×4 is scheduled for the capacities of the joint company «Ji EM-Autsovaz». The development of both appearance and fillings will be conducted by specialists from both the Russian company and from GM. Lada 4×4 and Chevrolet Niva market positioning will be preserved, as representatives of the company noted.
At the moment, the LADA 4 × 4 car is available in 2 options: 5-door Lada 2131 and 2-door Lada 21214. It is worth noting that in March 2011 the company’s contract was signed on plans to transfer to the company General Motors and the joint venture of AvtoVAZ, the production of Lada 4 SUVs? 4.
